Movement & Structure
The Cytoskeleton of a cell is what helps with the cells movement. It also plays a key role during cell division. The Cytoskeleton contains many parts including centrioles, microtubules, and microfilaments. The centrioles are composed of microtubule subunits. Other organelles that assist with cell movement include Cilia and Flagella.
Microtubules- Centrioles
Location: Microtubules are located in the cytoplasm.
Structure: Microtubules are long, hollow cylinders that are composed of proteins.
Function: They help organelles move within the cell.

Microfilaments
Location: Microfilaments are located in the cytoplasm.
Structure: Microfilaments are long, solid thread- like structures made of proteins.
Function: Microfilaments help support the cell. They are the "framework" of a cell.

Flagella
Location: The Flagella extends from the Cell Membrane.
Structure: The Flagella is a long, hair- like structure.
Function: The Flagella helps with the movement of a cell.

Cilia
Location: Cilia extend from the Cell Membrane.
Structure: Cilia are short, hair- like structures.
Function: Cilia move water past the outside of cells in order to detect and trap foreign objects.

Desmosomes
Location: Desmosomes are located in the tight spaces between adjacent cells.
Structure: Desmosomes are filaments that help "stitch" the cytoskeletons of adjacent cells together,
Function: Desmosomes help connect cells on order to form tissues.
